You are right that everyone starts out at the Mini-Mod level. Mini-mods have a limited amount of responsibility -- usually a few forums to watch over. If the individual seems to be catching on well and performing their duties, we promote them to full Moderator. This usually means more responsibility and a larger area of the forums to watch over. The person can then move up to the Super Moderator position once they have proven themselves capable of handling all Moderator duties. From there, if someone is really doing well, we promote to Super with AdminCP -- like Onionleaf, Jack I and our newest addition brought over from MMOCentral Raven Sparkleswirl. These three have proven themselves within the community, and therefore are given even more duties and responsibilities. The last level is a site Administrator. Admins have full responsibilities and take care of all aspects of running the site.
I can't really go into much more detail about individual level responsibilities. I will say that even our Mini-Moderators are a very important part of our staff. We all work as a team.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
