Which Tablet?
Hi Pixie Pals! I am debating on getting a laptop or a tablet and I was wondering if Pixie Hollow will run on any kind of tablet? I have a kindle fire and have tried everything to get it to run on it, lol. Is there a certain brand of Tablet Pixie Hollow will run on?

None that I know of, Stormy. I am on my kindle fire right now! I also have a nook, but PH doesn't work on there, either. (I know what you mean by trying everything! I downloaded the newest update of Flash and cleared it of viruses and it still doesn't work! Lol!)

A family member of mine has a Motorola Xoom, and I've played Pixie Hollow a couple of times on it. Its kinda slow, but at least it works.
EDIT: I should probably say that the Xoom is NOT the size of a kindle or nexus, but is bigger. If you just want to buy it just to play on Pixie Hollow... it might be a waste. Last edited by popcorn1234; 10-06-2012 at 09:29 PM. |

I have an IPad 1, and I can play Pixie Hollow with a certain application
downloaded. But since many PH Games require keyboards, it is better to buy one to attach to it. (:

I'd say a laptop because you wouldn't have to worry about "which kindle should I get?" or "does this work? no." I am saving up for a Mac Laptop because then I could download you know, reading apps on it or whatever (if you wanted to read on your device too!).

I have only tried iPad, which is able to run PH if you use Puffin Web Browser, but not very well since you can't click and drag and it tends to be a bit slow. Mostly it is handy for checking on my hummingbird or garden when I can't get to my computer. You might run into similar problems with other tablets, but I don't know.

I have not heard of it, thank you for suggesting though! I am glad I did not pay for Puffin yet since I was still on the free trial

My mom has one of those little Netbooks (laptops but smaller) and she says that Pixie Hollows runs just fine.

I think you should get a laptop because it is a bigger screen than tablets, and it just works better for games and such. I have tried playing pixie hollow on my phone ( It is the Galaxy note, so it is pretty big lol) it worked but it was really slow and then gave me a blank screen lol, i think i tried playing on my tablet once, it worked slow-ish so i gave up on that to lol. So i think a laptop would be a better option, besides you can use it for a lot of things and it is easy-ish to carry around and it just seems more user friendly to me lol.

it all depends on what you'd use it for. i'm a bit of an Apple addict myself, so i'd probably say iPad without even looking at anything else (like the Kindle, aka Amazon iStrain).
i can't speak for the other browser as i didn't try it, but the iSwifter one seemed "usable" with Pixie Hollow on an iPad 2 (tried it just now). however, i can't see using it to play any of the timed or click/drag-intensive mini-games (tailoring, tinkering, Petal Pick-up, etc.), but that's more to do with the device/interface than the app (need to be able to connect a mouse to a tablet - even a wireless one). the only thing i didn't like was that it's a free *trial*, but the price of the full version isn't really that bad. so if you already have a computer, i'd recommend getting whatever tablet best fits what you'd use a tablet for. if you're only going to get one or the other (computer or tablet), i'd say laptop - like maybe the smaller MacBook Air. |
