"Not really besides the fact that Patricia is a mutant alien from outer space," I chuckled.

I smiled and laughed. " true that! " The picture in my head of Patrica screaming and yelling in a spaceship going toward earth, made me laugh a little more. if only she could go back to her " planet " i thought.

I went to the changing rooms and put on my pretty blue petunia gown with lilac trimming. "C'mon already! You don't wanna be late for the dance!" I beamed.

We rushed down the hallways until we were finally at the auditorium. "We're here!" I exclaimed all out of breath.

I coughed a few times before catching my breathe. I took a deep breathe hoping it will slow my heart rate down, since it was racing. I smiled when i saw how beautifully decorated the auditorium looked.

Drake came up to me. "May I have this dance?" "Of course," I replied.

Blake took me inside and danced with me. He picked me up and turned once, then twirled me, his arm ending up around me. He twirled me out and dipped me down, continuing to dance with me. |

Then the music got modern and techno so I got to loosen up. It was Firework by Katy Perry.

I got a glass of punch from a table is the corber of a room. I crumpled the plastic cup then and tossed it in the trash. When I returned to the crowd, they where in a circle around some people apparently having a dance off. I tried to watch but everyone was pushing and crowding.

A new song began; it was slow and elegant and beautiful. I watched the music fairies expertly play their violins in the corner, and then turned to my partner. His name was Cyan. I smiled at him, but he didn't smile back. My smile turned into a frown.
"Uh, want to get some punch?" He asked. "Sure." Any signs of contentment vanished from my face. As I followed him to the bowl of raspberry punch, I tried not to squirm, but it was difficult. My feet were itching to spin around that shiny polished floor. I wanted to dance! Stupid, clueless boy! Cyan handed me a glass and I took a small sip of the punch. It fizzled on my tongue. It was good. I lowered my glass and absentmindedly watched the middle of the room, where fairies were dancing to no end. I wondered if it would be improper for me to ask Cyan about dancing. |

The upbeat music made me want to be wearing a shorter dress. I let go of his hands and we danced to the song. The song faded from Firework to Moves Like Jagger. Everyone was cheering at the good song choices. |

(I thought I said the song was slow and elegant.. I didn't really think there would be loud pop music at a regal princess ball...)
"So." I cleared my throat. Cyan looked up uncomfortably. "How's life?" I asked. Maybe once we got to know each other better, broke the ice, he'd ask me to dance. "Uh. Good." He picked up a rosehip tart and took a small bite out of the corner of it. "Want to sit down and talk?" I suggested, holding up my glass. He refilled it with punch. At least he was polite. "Sure." He said. I could tell that he was trying to be friendly, he just didn't know how. We went into the courtyard and sat down at the edge of a marble fountain. The fountain had a large dolphin- you know, those creatures on the mainland- sculpture in the middle of it that spurted out a stream of water. I took a sip of punch and leaned back comfortably. "So. Tell me about yourself, Cyan. I don't even know what talent you are!" I said. "I'm an autumn talent," Cyan began. "Cool! That's kind of like me! I'm a season talent too... a summer rain talent!" I interrupted. Then I remembered my lessons in Royal Manners. "Oh- I'm sorry. Excuse me. Go on." |
