The new Tinkerbell DS game
Quote:
The only difference I noticed, other than the lack of a cartridge space that plays the old Gameboy Advanced games, are the cameras and an SD card slot. Well, slightly bigger screens and a web browser and MP3 player but I am doubting those are going to hugely effect my Tinkering experience. I have played several of my DS games on my friend's DSi just so I could check it out before I buy one. What I was told is that DSi is just the third generation of the DS. There are no games specific only to DS, DS lite, and DSi (at least that is what Nintendo's FAQ says) but there soon will be games that have added extra features IF you have the DSi. They will still be playable on the DS and DS lite, though. One of the CEOs of Nintendo said in a conference that they are doing this so as not to alienate any of their players who cannot yet afford to make the move to DSi. I suspect that this means that the new Tinkerbell game will be playable on all three versions of the DS. It wouldn't, as you mentioned, make sense to make the game playable only on an older machine. Nintendo would lose money. And let's face it, Nintendo KNOWS how to appeal to the broadest audience and make a ton of money. So yeah, if you have a DSi, and you are dying to play the new game, go ahead and pre-order it! Lotuspuppy |

It is listed as DS and that is what I have, so don't know about the DSi, but I couldn't get the "internet" feature of the Dgamer to connect on the old games, so I fear, though am getting the game, that it won't work on the new one. Plus I would rather fly my PH fairy on the DS not a new one from the DS in PH. I don't want to start a new fairy as one is enough for me to keep up with! (Still working on the royal badges!) I don't think they should have features that not everyone can use! This is a BIG feature, but I don't think it will work for me. And yes, I have gone to 3 cafes, 5 airports and tried in Europe to connect, none of these places were apparently Nintendo compatible, though the wifi worked for computers. Don't have wireless at home and can't get it with other hobbies, so I will be left in the cold and very bummed!

Don't give up, Violet!
I had some trouble getting it to connect initially as well but my husband synced it with our wireless and I can connect to DGamer easily now.
However, when I go out of town, unless I have my laptop with me, it may or may not connect to Nintendo. The initial set up was a phenomenal pain in the bippy, however. Hubby works for Dell as email systems specialist so he has a good idea what is going on if something doesn't connect. I bet he could help you. If you would like, PM me and I will see what I can do. Ham Radio which is radio which interferes with the wifi and vice-versa and yes neighbors have it but theirs are locked and we don't get into their wifi. Actually the wifi interferes more with the radio! The problem is that the DS isn't compatible in ANY hotspot I have found as I mentioned. I have tried 3 cafes, 5 airports and even tried in Europe with no luck.

Hi Violet! We have the DS, DS lite and DSi. A very long time ago I had a problem connecting my DD's, DS and I found a customer service # for nintendo DS on their website. Someone called me back within 24 hours and helped me connect. Haven't had a problem since. Nor have I had a problem with any of the other versions of DS we own.
Also, to clear up any confusion, DSi was made to be backwards compatible with DS games. In other words DSi should be able to play any DS game. We have a ton of them and have never had a problem. The DSi is NOT a completely different gaming platform. It is meant to be more of an updated version of DS. Just like DS lite was an updated version of the original DS. I suggest, if you haven't already, try calling Nintendo DS support line. They were very helpful. Here is a link to for Nintendo's customer support information http://www.nintendo.com/corp/contact.jsp . Hope this helps! Have a flitterific day

Thanks but it isn't that I can't connect at home it is that it interferes, so I can't have wifi. I can't connect at any of the hotspots and all Nintendo will say is that the hotspots have a router or something that is not Nintendo compatible. I just feel that if it isn't a usable feature for everyone, they shouldn't have it. I have been very frustrated. Yes, I could go out and buy wifi that will interfere with my other hobby, but it isn't worth the time, money or aggravation. Why can't it just work at a hotspot like a normal computer is my question? Again, tried 3 cafes, 5 airports and tried in Europe. I shouldn't HAVE to buy it at home. Still say not fair. So far I haven't found anywhere public that is Nintendo compatible, yet every computer works just fine! Thanks for the suggestion. VM |

Finally, something I kind of know about!
Go mainland powers of retail video game sales, go!!! Anyway... There have yet to be any DSi specific games available in retail stores. There are, however, games that you can download off of the DSi network that are specific to the system. So, no worries about compatability issues! And about the WiFi....I know my DSi has had issues picking it up, but did you know....there are different kinds of WiFi? Different kinds of receivers? My laptop is WiFi capable, as is my sister's, but only hers can pick up the signal from our neighbors. The same goes for the DSi. I'm not too sure what kind it can pick up, but if there is an old WiFi hotspot, it will not pick it up. Mind you, the DSi was launched April 5th, so it will work with the most recent upgrade to WiFi. I'll try and do more research on this and get back to you all. I know most of the questions have been answered but I thought I'd try to help.

I just got my DSi & the first Tinker Bell game. I am sure I will have some questions as I go along I am planning to get the new Tinker Bell game as soon as it is out. I got a DS lite from ebay but was not happy with the "gently used" quality so am very glad I returned it & got the DSi instead. The bigger screen & better sound help me alot. Not sure if I will use some of the other features but worth it for me.
