I haven't actually thought about the reason for the Wall to be there. I'm open to any suggestions. I'm thinking it's to keep our characters in, but there's also another reason for it. I don't know what that would be, though.

I feel like we have a serious lack of characters who don't want to go over the wall... Well, it's good to have a variety of different characters.
Also, for the question of why the wall was built - maybe the walls were originally built to keep humankind safe from whatever mysterious beasts our characters are going to run into, but over time it became a way for the monarchy to oppress everyone by keeping them in. I was thinking that as time went on, what was known about the world outside the walls became largely forgotten, and the King uses this to his advantage by spreading fear about what might exist out there. Anyway, here's my second character. Name: Sophia Aristov Nickname: Soph or Sophie Age: 17 Gender: Female Height: 5'4" Personality: Quiet, calm, intelligent and practical, but also kind, loyal and compassionate. Sophia tends to be cautious and prefers not to rush into risky situations unless she doesn't have a choice. She can also be sarcastic and rather pessimistic at times, with a bad habit of pointing out the facts that nobody else wants to hear. Appearance: Tanned skin, long chestnut brown hair that she keeps in a loose bun, and blue eyes. Side: Against going over the wall/With the King Backstory: It's a secret (for now) Other: Sophie may not agree with the King all the time, but she believes keeping the people within the walls will keep them safe, and so tends to support his decisions more often than not. @Alexa, feel free to post the first chapter whenever you're ready.

Your idea sounds great, Glory! Maybe there's also another kingdom that is their enemy and there's this war-filled history between them. Perhaps the wall was built to keep the enemy out or something. Another idea I had was while our characters are out in the wilderness (or whatever is beyond the wall) I thought they'd go all Captain America: Civil War on each others i.e. they take sides, neither of them being right or wrong, and turn against each other. I'll hopefully post soon.

*Thud* "You can do better than that, Cor." "Ugh. Shut it!" *crack* *crack* *whoosh* *fwoomp* "Grrgh!" *crack* *whoosh* *crack* *whoosh* "Aagh!" *thudd* "Ohh... my head." "Heheh. That's what you get, after last time." "Ugh... sometimes I hate you, big brother." "Ah. And I love you, too." He said, extending his hand for me. With a roll of my eyes, I reluctantly accept his help and grab it. "Not too bad, today. Maybe next time we'll use real swords instead of training sticks." My brother, Josh, said "And maybe we won't practice in a barn?" I sigh "I'm going to be pulling hay out of my hair for weeks." "And I'll be a bit bruised for weeks. You know you're not supposed to kick with your full strength when training without protective gear, right?" "Hey, you asked for it with all your teasing." I say with a smirk "Heh, I was, wasn't I?" "Yes, you were." "Well, you started fighting better afterwards so, I guess I'll continue to do it." "Oh, wonderful." "Glad to hear it. Now, let's head inside. We still have to clean the rest of the house for mom." Author's Note: Finally... it has begun. Sorry for it being so short, though.

Thanks Alexa! And great first post.
Come on... Just a little further... I reached for the next branch, inching my way up the solid trunk of the ancient oak tree. Sweat beaded on my forehead, and my arms were aching and straining. But I could see light coming through the thick canopy of leaves. By the time I finally reached the top branches that were still thick enough to support my weight, I was panting with the exertion. But it was worth it, for when I got into a comfortable sitting position on the branch and leaned back against the trunk of the tree, the view was as spectacular as ever. I could see the entire courtyard, over the tops of the buildings and shops, to the people bustling about their daily lives. Here, this close to the Wall, the buildings were small and shabby, the streets unswept. It was the poor who lived out in the neighborhoods by the Wall. The King, his family, and courtiers dwelled in the very center of the city. Speaking of which... I had an hour, maybe two, before I was expected back at the castle for my chores. It wasn't very often that I had the time to make the trip out here anymore. The King was working his servants harder than ever, in preparation for yet another great feast where the nobility would pretend to discuss important affairs. In reality, it was just another excuse to throw a grand party. Everyone knew that nothing "important" ever happened inside our walled city. We had no wars, no conflict with rival kingdoms like in the olden days. It had been centuries since any of us had even been outside the Wall, which was now strictly illegal - any attempt to climb over meant an instant trip to the King's dungeons. Not that much of the population would attempt to do so anyways - we'd all heard the stories. Bloodthirsty beasts prowled the land. The terrain was rough and treacherous. Sudden storms, bandit tribes, aliens, monsters, you name it, it's been rumored. Some of the stories were so ridiculous I had to restrain myself to keep from bursting out laughing. I'd gotten in trouble with the head of the servants countless times for giggling during yet another "ominous" tale of what the world was like outside the walls. It was perhaps the most entertaining part of my job. I leaned back and basked in the warm sunlight. What did any of us know, after all? The stories passed down through the centuries were so muddled, had been changed so many times that many of them were downright ludicrous now. I tipped my head back all the way. From my vantage point, I could just see over the tip-top of the enormous walls, making out a hint of greenery beyond. It certainly didn't look anything like the stories foretold. The sun was almost directly overhead now. If I didn't get going now, I'd be behind on my chores again and would have to work overtime. With a sigh, I shimmied down the trunk of the oak tree and began my trek through the city back towards the King's castle. (If anyone wants to run into Blythe, feel free to. )

The bright sun, beating down. The ox's heavy breathing as they move through the field. Admittedly, cutting the grass between the rows of crops isn't especially hard work--it's just all the time out in the sun that makes the task difficult. Now, our farm isn't that big--at least, comparatively--but it's large enough that even cutting grass can take a while, usually over an hour. It's slow work, but that's life.
Brushing the hair from my face, I try to distract myself with other matters. Like, how Sam looked when she was told how she'd be cutting grass until her leg healed--and how relieved she looked when I offered to take it in her place. Sam could get around just fine--perhaps a bit slower than usual, but maybe that was a good thing considering her nature. I smiled and shook my head. She could be all over the place sometimes. What else... well, there was the matter of prices. Or the weakened yields because of the crop diseases, they were becoming more prevalent. But thinking about that stuff was boring. Well, necessary, of course--but even thinking about it in my free time? That was a bit much. What else was there to think about, though? I thought about other memories--my recent trips to market, helping with the animals... Pepper and her puppies... It's a moment before I realize that we've stopped at the end of the row. I try snapping the reins, and calling to Olive, but nothing works. Carefully, I step off of the grass clipper and look carefully at Olive. She's panting, and looks exhausted. "Yeah," I admit, stretching my back. "I could use a break too." Making sure that the clipper's blades are folded in before we leave, I escort Olive back towards the barn. (It's an uninteresting post, but I'm still not solid on Casey's character yet. Hopefully I can think of something actually interesting next time, rather than setting up her casual life on the farm.)

I've decided to *bump*
"Errghh" I sleepily swatted at the person trying to wake me up. I am clearly not a morning person. "Miss Julia, you have to wake up now," I listened with my eyes closed. It was my lady-in-waiting, Rose. She was a sweet and stout lady of old age. I was very close to her, and due to my mother's very social lifestyle, Rose was more of a motherly-figure to me. "Wake up now and you'll still have time for some breakfast before your dress fitting." With that, she ruffled my hair a bit more than it already was and left me to fix myself up a bit. I groaned. I had completely forgotten about the dress fitting. I had managed to push it out of my mind by spending the whole day riding yesterday, but apparently things that you don't want to do cannot just disappear. Tonight I'm required to attend my first meeting with my parents in the King's castle. Because I turned sixteen, my parents thought it would be best for me to begin to immerse myself in the politics that occurred here in the kingdom. I puff to myself. What politics? We haven't had any conflicts in centuries. This is just our King wanting to throw a grand party. And now I have to wear a silly and uncomfortable dress... I sit up in my bed and squint in the sunlight. I had forgotten to close my curtains last night and the morning sun is blinding. What even time is it? I check the clock on my bedside table. 10:00! I'm late! How long did I sit in my bed for? I pull my hair back into a sloppy ponytail and flop into some casual clothing, slipping and falling wriggling into the pants. I dash out of the room and slide down the bannister to the main hall. I'm about to be scolded by Rose but I grab the piece of toast from her hand and run out the front door to the carriage waiting and drive away. Man, mornings are just not my thing.

Totally, Primrose!
I'll try and post something soon. I haven't had the time cause of the musical I was in. Now that it's over, I should have more time to write.

Name: Ande Castillo (pronounced just like Andy)

Prefers not to be noticed, but sometimes occurs it when she creates something, or takes a stand against an injustice. Appearance: Light brown hair, tan skin. Blue-ish green eyes. Side: With the King. Mainly due to the fact that she believes that the danger over the wall is too great to risk. Back story: Grew up living at a home close beside the wall.... more backstory to come? So quiet...
Ande The breeze was wonderful from up here. No walls to constrain the wind. Ande pressed her hands against the mossy stone parapet. She could see the endless wood beyond the wall as well. It was so beautiful. The only place now that still had such a vast collection of trees. But it was forbidden. Terrible things lay underneath the thick boughs of that forest. Ande shuddered. There had even been times that she had heard the terrible, piercing wails coming from those woods. People said it was from a fire-breathing, two headed beast called the Mountain Lion. If only the woods didn't contain such terrifying beasts. How she would have loved to explore it. Ande! A muted voice called from below the tower's floor. Where is that girl? Ian, is she up there? I believe so, my lady, the guard replied. Ande grimaced, she had forgotten that she was supposed to be introduced today to a noble that she had met five years ago. And had also met five years before that, and five years before that. It was a tradition. Every five years. I am up here, Mother! Ande called back, turning and climbing down the trap door that led back down to the inside. Ande! Her mother, Countess Henrietta Castillo of the East Loch, cried. A lady has no business climbing up and down ladders! Not to mention that our guests are going to be here any minute! And I am already ready. She hopped off the ladder and gave a twirl for her mother; showing off her new blue muslin dress, and the up-do that her light brown hair was in. Very nice. Now, we really must hurry. There was a clattering noise from outside, and Ande rushed over to the window (which wasn't really much of a window, just a slit for the archers, should they ever be attacked.) There they were. The nobles that she hardly ever saw. Sir Evan Mackey and Lady Winifred. They're here! the Countess gasped, taking her daughter's hand and pulling her away. Together they rushed, in a semi-dignified manner, down to the entrance of their chateau.

(You're right, Primrose, it is quiet! I still have no idea what to do with poor Casey... would anyone be up to running into her so both/all of our characters could get some development through conversation??)

I'm sorry for not writing anything for this RP and being so inactive (and also for sounding like a such a broken record). I don't want to give any excuses. I've had a lot of time to write something, yet I didn't. I'll admit that I haven't been feeling inspired but that doesn't mean I couldn't have written a short something for this. I definitely could have, but I didn't and I'm sorry. I need to find a way to motivate myself to write because I have been writing anything for months and months.
Are any of you guys still mildly active on here?
