This is a new app that will be coming soon!!! It looks like it will be a more updated version of VMK. Disney just had their convention and made tons of announcements. I am very excited for this game!!!!

I heard about this game over the weekend. Here is the link ~ http://www.insidethemagic.net/2015/0...omment-page-1/
There is no release date yet. But it is supposed to be like Theme Park Tycoon, but with a story of the Disney heroes and Villains. ~Twi

Yes, I heard about this game yesterday! It sounds like a fun and promising game, so I am very excited to play it! Considering that I never played VMK, it will be interesting to see if it is like an updated version of the game. As time passes, I guess we will learn more information, like when it will be available and with whom we can play it.
I also noticed that this is going to be a mobile app game, not a game intended to played on your computer like Pixie Hollow or *cough* Club Penguin. Now I begin to wonder if Disney has had this game idea up their sleeve since the closure of Pixie Hollow and the two other games as their master plan to prioritize making mobile titles and glorifying, dare I say it, Club Penguin. I am not mad at them, however. I am just extremely curious about how it will be marketed and how well it will do. I guess we will need to wait and see!

I, too, have been wondering about what projects Disney Interactive have been planning since the closure of their online games. Their reason for the closure was stated as wanting to redirect their focus to mobile gaming, but I haven't heard much about any releases up until now, although I should really pay more attention to their news. Apparently they're going to introduce Kingdom Hearts to mobile devices? Wow, I wonder how that will even work.
But back on topic, sounds like a second attempt at a VMK-like game! I hope it won't be used merely as a promoter for the theme parks (which I'm guessing it will be). Sure, I'm glad to hear that they're releasing new games, but I feel like there's not a lot of potential for mobile games to grow and expand into something more meaningful. Still, let us know about any other news that might appear! Looks like the game will be released some time this year, so not a long wait at all.

I haven't been very good at mobile games in the past, but I might be able to play this on a tablet!
Something about the tiny screen, it just doesn't work for me!

Apps
I am with you Lila,
I cannot play something on such a small screen. I loved Pixie Hollow because it was to be played on a computer where you could see the characters and the background such as Fairy homes, meadows, games etc. I do not play games on my phone, the screen is too small.

I downloaded the game to try it out, and so far it's been like your typical "click & collect" style of gameplay. There are no minigames (yet?) so there is not that much to do at the moment except sit around and wait for the tasks to be completed. And no I am not impatient and rich enough to pay for gems.
I'll keep the game on my phone for another five days until I unlock Tinker Bell, but if it still won't be all that interesting to play by that time, I'll free up space for other apps. I wish game developers would spend more time creating more unique ways of playing!

Ah, yes! I did see this in the App store while I was searching for an app on my laptop, but I've forgotten about it until now.
I am a bit ashamed to say I'm known to be a bit of a fan of 'click and play' games. Then again, most of the click and play games I have downloaded usually have another aspect to them -- like on Disney's Descendant's you can personalize your avatar, and on Nemo's Reef you can learn about corals, etc.. So, is Disney Magic Kingdoms a fun game? I'm probably going to download it later, but on my phone. |

Yeah, it's a pretty fun game! I've had it for a little over a month now, and I like having the activities that I can go back and check on. It's true that you don't do too much--essentially, collecting magic and stars when the different booths/rides produce them, and assigning your characters to tasks that can take them anywhere from a minute to eight hours or more. Not super interesting, but it's fun reading about the characters and what they're up to on their latest quest (Goofy wants to eat lunch, Tink wants to find Lost Things for her grand tinkering project, Mickey wants to restore the kingdom to what it was, etc.)
So in a nutshell, it's a nice game for when you want something small to do over a long period of time--a game that you just have to check up on occasionally in order to fulfill tasks. For me, it's a good game to just take my mind off of things for a little while and futz around for a bit. No minigames, like Onionleaf said, so it has very simple gameplay. But still fun and interesting nonetheless. I was really happy when I found out I could unlock Tink and Pixie Hollow for obvious reasons. Pixie Hollow, by the way, is a "booth" area of sorts that looks like Tink's teapot home (think Pixie Hollow in Disneyland), so you can't go inside and there's no other fairies in the game besides Tink. But it is "our" Pixie Hollow Tinker Bell, so that's a huge plus for me! Also, as a side note for those of you talking about the small screen problem: if you have a Windows computer that runs Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 (essentially, when you open the Start menu, it has all of those app-like tiles) you can download Disney Kingdoms as an app through the Store, and you'll be able to play it on a much bigger screen. The game is still free, and you won't have to squint at a phone screen to play. (By the way, Daisy, how has Descendants been going for you? Ever since the Isle of the Lost update to the game, I haven't been able to play... do you have that issue, too?)
