Tinkerbell DS
I am considering buying the Tinkerbell game for the nintendo DS. Does it work on the new DS? I know it will never be Pixie Hollow, but it is the best I could think of. Thank you!

I don't own any of the newer versions of Nintendo DS, but their FAQ says that "you can also play nearly all Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi titles", so I guess it's worth a shot!
Which game were you thinking of buying? The three games differ from each other, so depending on what type of gameplay you enjoy, you might prefer one over another. For example, the Great Fairy Rescue has a larger variety of outfits for your fairy, but you come to a point where there is nothing else to do in the game (unlike the first game, and possibly second too, where the tasks and events change according to the calendar). I think I can recall a thread where we discussed the pros and cons of each game, but I haven't managed to find it yet. But as long as you like the world of fairies and Tinker Bell, you'll like all three games. Especially with Pixie Hollow closed, you'll definitely enjoy flying around the meadows and playing the minigames.

Just to help you choose, the first DS game is where you play as Tinkerbell and help bring the ministers items to change the seasons. There's no real story so you don't know when to end the game, not to mention that there aren't many minigames and characters, but you do get to befriend the fairies. I've even created a thread about this game. It's kind of like Animal Crossing only it's not customizable and you can see the friendship meters, fairies also like and dislike specific gifts. The materials also look amazing from the menu.
Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure has LOTS of stories you can play. There's one mode where you get to play as Tinkerbell and basically play through the movie in Tinkerbell's perspective and even play minigames along the way! In the other mode, you get to create five fairies each in a different talent and each of them get a different story to help prepare for the revelry. I'm personally not into the ingredient graphics and music in this game as much as the other games, but there are a lot of characters, stories and the minigame tells you how well you did in the music at the end. Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue has great music in my opinion (I especially think it has the catchiest minigame music) and the map is different from the other games making it exciting when I first got it. I also like exploring the Fairy Camp. You get to create a fairy and help with the Summer Garden. It's a fun task, but unlike the last game, you can only create one fairy and there's only one story, not to mention that planting flowers in the Summer Garden can be painful in my opinion, but I LOVE the outfits! Sorry this took so long. But like Onionleaf said, you'll still enjoy flying around in these games, I think the maps are good in all the games and I like all of them, it's just that I like them for different reasons. You can also buy all three games if you want to. |

I hope you enjoy the DS games, stargazer. Like you said it's no Pixie Hollow, but it sure is nice to see your fairy flying around again!

Just as a heads up, the Tinkerbell DS game, as in the first one where you fly as Think herself, is timed along your world clock.
As you open the game each new day, it will give you rewards based on your actions the day before. If you completed a lot of quests and seasons the day before, you will get a lot of fairy darts for the roulette in Augustus' shop. If not, you will receive a small amount. But, if you do not log on for days on end, Fairy Mary will greet you very angrily/unhappily and ask where you've been. You will receive no darts unless you made achievements the last time you were on. This exact reason is why I've avoided the game for quite some time. Personally, I like the game for it's mini-games, especially tinkering and Iridessa's gem mining. (Iridessa's game is daily as well.) It will be a fun buy if you are a dedicated pixie! Have fun!

That's awesome, Stargazer!
I know I'm a little late replying to this thread (... Oops?) but I think as long as you like Tinkerbell, you'll love the DS games. Just a heads up on the original Tinkerbell DS game: Be sure to save your progress if you're going to put up your DS for a few hours. There's nothing more annoying than accomplishing something in-game, taking a small break, and then coming back a few hours later to a dead DS without saving your progress... |
