well. open up gimp and create a new image. (durr) enter the size (if you wanna use it as your signature, it should be 500x200 or under), and click advanced options. where it says "fill with", select transparency.
take the text tool and type some text. move it wherever you want. make a new layer. (press ctrl + l to bring up the layer dialog, or go to windows > dockable dialogs > layers, and press the blank piece of paper icon) open up one of the images you wanna put in the text and right click on it. edit > copy go back to your text. and (with the layer you made before activated) right click. edit > paste. move it to where you want it. repeat with any other images. (make sure to put them all on separate layers) now go to your layers dialog. right click on the text layer. select alpha to selection. now right click on the image (or look at the top bar). select > invert. with the picture layer activated, go to edit > cut. repeat with any other picture layers. save your image as anything, but save it as a png, b/c not all file extensions can handle transparency. (pictures waiting mod approval)

a) download it and install it like you normally would.
b) look up a tutorial on it, about to go to sleep so i'm not gonna take pics and explain it all. c) save it as a .png if it's transparent and you can upload it anywhere and have it stay transparent. (tell me if i totally misunderstood your question)

okay, go to google. search "gimp brush install tutorial". look for a tutorial that will show you how to install a brush on gimp. then restart gimp or open the brushes dialog and refresh it.

Gimp help!
I have gimp and I am making a order for my shop but I want to put a picture onto the background I made. I put it on as a new layer and it's there but I don't know how to move it where I want to!
And does any one know a good and easy way of cutting things out on gimp? Thanks ~ Shanna ~ |

Okay. I use GIMP, and these are pretty simple questions.
Okay, so you put a picture onto a background, but you don't know how to move the picture? If you go to your toolbox, there should be a tool that looks like four arrows in a + shape. Click on that, then go over to your layer/channel/undo/ box, and click the layer you want to move. Then click and drag the layer in the center box where you add text and stuff like that. Works for moving the background too. As for cutting out stuff, I think free selecting the object roughly and then erasing what you don't want (very carefully) would be an OK way to do it, but if you can figure it out, Foreground Select would be a very good tool to use. Pretty quick to use, bit difficult to figure out. I think you can figure it out though |
