Big Ben Tower As A Cross Stitch
I have been wanting to share this art / cross stitch for a while just needed motivation to get it posted on here.
Just a cross stitch of the Big Ben Clock Tower I did for a friend who really loves iconic United Kingdom themed things. It took about 4-5 months total from start to finish. The total size including non-stitched aida is 8 inches wide by 20 inches tall on 14 count oatmeal colored aida. The year "1858" stitched is the year the Big Ben Tower (officially known as the Elizabeth Tower located in London) was completed. |

Absolutely stunning work as always, Frozenthorn! I am mesmerised by all the details and could gaze at it for a long time, eyes wide and mouth open, hehe.
I love the overall geometric design; it's symmetrical in a way that's pleasing to the eye and works really well as a cross-stitch. 4-6 months seems like a short time for such a big project, I'm impressed! I'm sure it would take me at least a year to finish a cross-stitch as big as this. ^^" Thank you for sharing! It made me think about how a tinker-talent fairy would react to the Big Ben when flying past it - Alexia would probably stop dead in her tracks to inspect it.

Wow, that looks amazing, Frozenthorn! It's so intricate, down to the last little details, and it looks exactly like the Big Ben. Your cross stitch skills are truly admirable! Thank you for sharing your work with us.

I'm so sorry for this crazy late reply! Please forgive me!
~Peweli~ Thank you!!! ~Onionleaf~ Thank you so much! I kind of surprised myself at the time it took from start to finish. Just using basic Paint to create an over-sized pattern and just draw out a line or mark on the computer screen as I go. I'm glad it looks symmetrical as this was a first in making a building into cross stitch for me ... I can agree that any tinker-talent fairy would have so much fun exploring Big Ben, and then create something similar back in the realm of Pixie Hollow. *daydreaming* ~Night Wish~ Thank you very much ! I'm glad you enjoyed viewing this little art. ~~~~~ Just a tiny update. I had gotten a chance to visit my friend that I had made this cross stitch for (earlier today) and to my delight she told me some cool news. She and her husband had gotten the chance of a lifetime to take a visit to cheery London! I got to see pictures she took on her phone of them in front of the real Big Ben. She told me it costed them a small fortune but she said it was worth it and they had a fun time being there. She says the cross stitch has a lot more meaning to it now. I'm so happy for the both of them. ~~~~ |
