Userpage bug?
So I've been working on my Userpage from time to time...Until I encountered a little problem.
Whenever I type somewhere below the text I left off from (The "About Me" glitter text) and save my progress, the text appears below the Userpage background, despite my changes being typed above the final "</td></tr></table>". I am certain that I have encountered this problem before and figured out how to fix it, but now I completely forgot what I did and have no idea how to! Any help would be appreciated! Spoiler for My Userpage coding:

Could you copy and paste your code on this thread for us to see? It will be easier to find out what went wrong that way. Maybe there's a duplicated piece of code somewhere that is causing this. I can't guarantee that I will be of much help but I'll try.

Okay Onionleaf, I posted my Userpage coding above... The big red text is the part that is outside of the Userpage background.

Lily,
You were missing a </div> I believe I fixed it for you. ~ Em

Hmm, well I am definitely no HTML programmer so I can't tell exactly what went wrong. However, I removed some of the code that seemed repetitive and after a few tries the background was working properly. I highlighted the code that I removed in red below, so the problem lies somewhere there, most likely closer to the bottom of the page.
Were you planning on using the <div style> code or was that something that was copied over along with the GIFs? Edit: Whoops, looks like Em got it all sorted! (I had a feeling it had something to with missing <> tags, but obviously it's like another language to me, lol) I'll leave the things that I've edited here anyway, just in case you'd like to remove some extra code. I'd recommend pasting in code only if you understand exactly what it is doing. I'd say the least amount of code you can use, the better. Otherwise it can quickly become very messy. By the way, you can also remove the alt="glittertextmaker.info" if you don't want the glitter text site to be advertised when someone moves the mouse over the images.

Thank you so much to both of you! That helped a whole lot!
I didn't know that you could still see the website link if you hovered over it! I had managed to remove the link from the bottom of the text, but I guess there was more to it than just that. I'll make sure to remove that later today, thanks! The <div style> code was actually copied along with the GIFs, so I am going to have to keep those for the glitter text to function properly. I wish I could remove them though, the coding for each of the images is so long! I always try to shorten the coding as much as I can, even though I hadn't realized before that I always do it. I'll make sure to keep on doing that in the future! It's amazing how important the <div/> is. Who knew! Lily Snowfleck __________________ Last edited by Lily Snowfleck; 12-01-2014 at 02:56 PM. |
