The Artwork of Fairies
When my daughter was a teen she loved Art took Art in Jr Hi & High School.
She Discovered the Art Books of Brian Froud. She quite suddenly fell in love of his Artwork & Paintings of Faries! Have any of you heard of Brian or have seen his Art? She also Liked Amy Brown's Paintings of Fairies! Just Wondering? |

Yep, I read that book long ago. Another artsy book you might enjoy, by a different artist is "Gnomes" by Wil and Rien Poortvliet.
"The Dark Crystal" movie had puppets designed by Brian Froud. Stormy

You would like talking to my daughter she knows about the movie/book Dark Crystal. She has the book another Christmas gift from us so many years ago.
And I do believe she has that one about Gnomes! Better yet Im gonna encourage my Busy/Work Exhausted Daughter to join this forum! I think she would like it. Or maybe I could be her voice! As sometimes after a crowded Texas Freeway Drive Home she is too exhausted to type anything! Shes An Orthodonic Assistant & deals with mouths of all ages 12 hours a day 5 days a week! a Pixie Hollow Member with 3 founding fairies of her own who encouraged me to join & I also help her fairies out when she has time only to do her lst Fairy! Fairies
Nene Thomas is my favorite fairy artist, her stuff is really ethereal and reminds me of enchanted princesses.
But I've always loved Froud too. Did you know that his wife Wendy Froud makes dolls based on his designs? The creatures in Labyrinth were also by Froud, and the baby Toby was his son. I'm also really loving the watercolors of the Disney fairies in the books by Gail Carson Levine, I believe the artist is named David Christiana. I personally am more fond of that style than the CG versions in the movies. Last edited by Jezzi; 08-17-2010 at 12:16 AM. Reason: removed link/advertising |
