Gardenia's Guide to Cropping/Cutting out Fairies/Sparrow Men
If you have seen lots of signatures, backgrounds, profiles, etc. here at the Forum with cut-out characters from Pixie Hollow, then they might have used the simple trick below to get a good cutout.
Here's how it works: Step 1 - Go to the designated Fairy or Sparrow Man's Pixie Page. Step 2 - (Good timing and eye coordination are required for this step!) Have an image-taker program on your computer ready. While the Pixie Page loads, the Page's character should show on the middle-right side of the page, standing in a black-like background. Quickly take an image of the Fairy or Sparrow Man, while the background remains black and clear. Example: Step 3 - Get the image to shorten, right around to where your Fairy or Sparrow Man is in the image. After doing so, open up a paint or photo-editing program on your computer. Example: Step 4 - Open the image of your character in the black background. Make sure there is a paint-bucket tool to fill in areas in the image. Step 5 - Now, use the paint-bucket tool to simply fill in the black areas of the image. Once there is no more black showing in the background, your Fairy or Sparrow Man should be perfectly cropped in the image. Now you are ready to make this into a signature, profile picture, avatar, background, etc. Example of finished image: I hope this helps out a lot of people!

Wow, thank you so much. In my case it's usually a white background but if I use your advice, it would be so much easier for me!

I already do this. But you forgot the actual cropping the little black things. (I know how to do that too, it requires time.)

ZOOM in till you can see the black thingies very well. Make sure you have a transparent background. Then get the Eraser tool and start erasing all the little marks completly. Zoom out everyone in a while so you can see your progress.
This is the only one I have in my album right now.

Cropping
It IS a little fiddly, but fun to do. Oh and btw, paint in windows 7 is nicer now. I can actually use it.

Great idea Vilmadebora, to use the eraser to remove the obvious areas that need to be removed. I use the "add to selection' button to get those areas out. It's very fast and there's no chance to making a mistake. Try that next time V, you might like it.

normally i go to my pixie page and "print to pdf", then open that in Photoshop Elements to delete the white background. a few other "modifications" gives me something like this, that i use on my userpage. |

I can't get the white page with my fairy in it Anyone want to explain how to save it to my documents when printed or do it for me and attach it if it isn't to much work? I feel so greedy.. http://pixiehollow.go.com/pixiepages...orthTulipPoint
Littlebell I had to take advantage of that nice picture of your fairy and do something with it! You don't have to use it, it was just for fun :]

Vilmadebora, you are so sweet doing that siggie for Littlebell! Great job both of you.
Also, yes I am working with photoshop. The white background you get by downloading pdf creator. You will be shocked at how your fairy will pull up once you do this. |
