A cry for inspiration!
Ok, this may need to be moved because I had no idea where to put it (sorry mods, I will bake you some extra cookies as compensation lol) but I am crying out for your help pixies! I am currently trying desperately to carry on with my story for you guys but it is just not clicking! I guess I have writers block. It's that feeling you know? It should be fun but you sit down to write and you just get this ache in your spine and you want to groan and slouch down in your chair with a bar of chocolate and give up. So, I want to know, where do you guys get your inspiration? What do you do when gravity starts to pull your creativity down? Who knows, maybe we can all help each other?

I'm very sorry you are experiencing this Charlotte, I do sometimes too.
Could you please tell me which story you would like to add to? I would love to read it and maybe give you some suggestions -Tiger Mangolily |

hey tiger! I wasn't so much looking for suggestions as ideas on what to do to get that spark back! Im slowly falling out of love with my storyline and I don't want to throw in the towel just yet so I was hopeing for some ideas of how to get excited about writing again! Thanks for the reply though

Oh, in that case then...
Going places that you think your characters might go, or doing things you think your characters might do helps you to get a little inspiration. Like, if one of your characters loves to play table tennis, then play table tennis! Or if they all hang out at an ice cream shop before...I don't know... saving the world, then go to an ice cream shop! (I would not suggest saving the world. Unless you have super powers. Then save the world all you want! ) popcorn (Of course, if you were to be doing a story on fairies... that gets a little difficult to find something storyline-inspiring on the mainland. For a fairy themed story, though, I guess going to places relating to they're talent can often help. Like, a waterfall for a water fairy. Or a place with stained glass could be for a light fairy. For garden fairies... well, just taking a walk! ) Last edited by popcorn1234; 06-26-2012 at 10:06 PM. Reason: Adding |

I write a lot too, and when I get writer's block I usually just take a break from that specific story.
And it may sound silly to you, but daydreaming (not when you're doing something important though lol) can help. Sometimes I'll be daydreaming and I'll come up with this idea that fits my story perfectly for some crazy reason, hehe.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing writer's block, Charlotte... I can say from experience that it is the worst! :P I read in a book once that just free writing or writing random things, like anything on your mind at all- even if it doesn't have anything to do with your story - can help get your creative juices flowing. I mean, literally, write about anything at all. Just get your mind going and hopefully some ideas will pop up about your story.

I am a writer too I'm writing two books and a FanFiction right now, plus the Hybrid's newspaper :P XD. When i am lacking inspiration, I take a break from writing the book for about a week, and while I'm breaking I think of times in my life that i could use as a base for the story. Ya know, maybe a time I got lost or something? I also think of times FRIENDS have told me about. I think about other books i've read and TV shows and video games i like and see if i can get inspiration from them. There's lots of material in this world to write, you just have to look for it ^^

Oh whoa... I get writers block all the time! But sometimes it can be amended when I think over the story and think about what I want to happen. Getting excited all over again can help too. Just my ideas.

I get my inspiration out of nowhere. Well every now and then my dreams at night will give me like.. the most epic story ideas xD But yeah, just use that lovely thing called your imagination and everything works out [that's how it is with me... dunno bout you...]

Hmm! When I get writers block I take a break and walk around the city. The architecture and parks are very inspiring. And the fresh air doesn't hurt.

I don't write that much but whenever I can't think I think of something else and then it comes to mind. Or like Iris said you can daydream, that helps a lot.
Izzy I love Winnie the Pooh! |

I agree with Iris, daydreaming can really help!
P.S. you're a flitterific writer and I'm sure your block will pass soon! I can't wait to read more of your story. |
