No mention of Tinker Bell, but here is a list of the next major Disney films, I just thought I would put it up here for those interested. I should mark a few on my calendar. Does any Star Wars fans know what this Rogue One is about?
Click on the picture for a bigger version. So The Good Dinosaur is coming out this winter? That one looks really, really cute. |

It did say the Tinker Bell movie would come out in 2020, and 2020 wasn't on there...

Don't worry, PixieHollowForever, I wasn't being negative, I just said "No Tinker Bell movies mentioned" as a way of saying "Off Topic" in regards to the thread's title. I wasn't sure where to put this on the forums.
2020 is five years away (less, really, since 2015 is almost over), we probably won't see too much information for a Tinker Bell movie for maybe two years? I, myself, always learn about a Disney movie a year or two in advance. Although I was pretty lucky to learn about The Princess and the Frog and Tangled about four years in advance - I kept waiting for them to come out whenever a Disney animated movie was released and wonder "So when will The Frog Princess or Rapunzel come out, already?" |

It would have been lovely news to see an upcoming Tinker Bell movie, but looks like they have a lot on their plate during these next few years. It probably takes several years to decide on and plan a new movie so there is still hope, right? "Finding Nemo" earned itself a sequel after 10 years, and look how much time has passed between Peter Pan and the first Tinker Bell movie, so this doesn't mean that we won't be seeing any more Disney Fairies.
I see there are a lot of sequels or re-dos of the classic tales, so not overly excited about the new releases. The one that stood out for me was Moana. I'm curious to see as to what Polynesian culture(s) they have used as a reference point. I stumbled across an audition page for the main character and apparently they are accepting auditions from New Zealand residents of Maori descent, so maybe they will be using some aspects of the Maori culture? Looking at the character designs, there does seem to be a couple of similarities in terms of clothing, facial features, etc. but I guess Polynesian cultures are all similar in a way. Like the Maori people, each island tribe probably has its own history of travelling on canoes from far away, so it definitely seems fitting to have an Odyssey-like adventure story of sailing across the ocean and meeting mythical creatures along the way. I have a feeling I'd enjoy watching such a tale and it would be even more interesting if any New Zealand voice actors would be part of the cast!

Disney just announced that there is an untitled Disneytoon movie coming in 2019. We don't know WHAT it is, but we can always hope for a Tinkerbell movie!

I realize that I'm extremely late in saying this, but thank you for sharing that with us, Sapphira! Even though there's no sign of any Tinker Bell movies yet, it's great to know what we have to look forward to. And like Stargazer said, we can always hope!
I agree with Onionleaf, I'm looking forward to Moana! I don't know very much about the Polynesian cultures, but it seems really fascinating. The idea of a ocean voyage/adventure story definitely has a lot of potential. I hope Disney does a good job with the mythology, since it looks like this movie will focus a lot on mythical characters.

Thanks, Stargazer, for making a note of that! I'm actually really glad to hear--officially!--that Disneytoon isn't dead. All of the behind-the-scenes small interviews with employees and lack of official announcement (or official representation at this year's D23) was really making me question things. Glad to hear they're still alive! As the article I posted points out, the main press release only noted theatrical releases. Perhaps Disneytoon has a secret direct-to-video release coming sooner than 2019? Of course I'd like the 2019 release to be a Tinker Bell movie But I'm just glad they're not dead completely. Yay!

Thank you for all the new information! All of your new posts made me realise how lucky we are to have six Disney Fairies movies released. It's great to hear that the last three sequels did well (emphasis on the word "sequels", lol), considering that it's targeted towards a particular group of customers so not everyone will go out to watch them.
As always, wings crossed for a new Tinker Bell movie! The online game closed, but there are still many other ways of continuing a franchise and I'd say Disney Fairies and Neverland can last for ever and ever. Bring on the sequels!

Hello everyone! I know that this thread was last posted on in 2015, but since the 2017 D23 Expo happened about a week(ish) ago, I think I need to add to this post, since--yes--DisneyToon studios was mentioned for the first time since the 2013 D23 Expo, and it's untitled 2019 movie was given a brief spotlight.
According to Oh My Disney: Quote:
Deadline News took something different away from the panel, though: Quote:
The Verge added a bit more detail to "evil space shuttle and two friendly fighter jets". Quote:
