It isn't just luck.
It really isn't just luck people, it's a numbers game. The more adventures you do, the better your chances for finding the gems.
This is gem number twenty - You won't be likely to find any gems with less than 500-1000 challenge points, unless you happen to adventure with those that have many more. Good luck to you all! |

Oh my goodness, 20?! Hooray, Em, you got one too! I'm so happy for you!!
I still have yet to get a Gem, so if anybody is in need of a Water Talent, let me know and I'll be there faster than a slippery dewdrop drips off a spider web!

I was so thrilled to find my very first gem in the wilderness today! Thank you so much to Little Sugarbug, Dalila and Honey Sunshine for adventuring with me.
The statistics of our quest are as follows: We were in the Silver Trees on an Exploration quest with Bug leading. We had a Tinker, Water, Light and Animal talent to make up the team. The compass was the very last task of the quest. No other compasses (or rocks even) were present. And it occurred at around 2pm EST (maybe a little earlier or later ~ didn't really look at the time). Lastly, I have around 2,000 skill points earned. I think that being an animal talent has it's disadvantages when it comes to gems. I've never heard of an animal talent finding one on their own and the animal talent cannot lead the quest either. You definitely need a tinker or a light with you and preferably both! Good luck to everyone! They are out there for sure. ~ Em |

Yes, the Hollow is acting up something fierce today. And I knew it was their servers and not my computer.
This actually started last night for me. ~ Em |

Read the whole thread.
I have tried to be helpful, in this thread I've put all the information I know about finding gems, but I will restate it now and try to be more precise.
1. The time of day does not seem to matter. I've found a gem at 7:00 AM (EST) , 2:00 PM (EST), around 12:00 at night and even around 2:00 AM (EST). 2. I usually adventure with a team of me (Obviously) a Water talent, a Tinker talent, a light Talent and either a Garden or Animal talent. However, I have found several gems with just a Water and Light Talent. Yesterday, I was with a Tinker and a Light, I needed a break and told them to do one without me, they found one by themselves. 3. Finding the Compass alone is not enough. I found one by myself today and there was only one skill required, (Splash 4 times) and as I stated in an earlier post, there will not be a gem unless three skills are required, such as Illuminate, Splash and Fix. I don't think the specific skills matter as long as three are required. 4. We generally pick a quiet server and then call others of various Talents to us. The server is picked at random and rarely the same each time and doesn't seem to make a difference. (Mainly the reason we choose a quiet one is so that we don't get pestered by new fairies each time we come out of the wilderness or while we wait to gather a team.) 5. Again, it is all about numbers. Don't expect to waltz into the wilderness once a day and find a gem. My fairy friends and I are almost always adventuring and may do thirty or more adventures without finding one, some days not finding any, some days finding one or two. 6. This one really isn't about finding gems but is rather advice for adventuring. MAKE LOTS OF COOKIES. There is nothing more irritating than having a fellow fairy run out of cookies in the wilderness, making it impossible for the others to finish without that fairy's skills. (I recommend making at least three or four dozen at a time, at least Raspberry or better. Acorn cookies are a waste of time and don't provide enough dust.) This is as specific as I can get, since I adventure for fun and don't keep statistics of when and where I find a gem, but all of my gems were found in the Silver Trees, I have not found any in the bog. |

More Details
Ok, today we (Water, Light, Tinker, Animal) did about twenty or thirty adventures with no luck. Then we switched servers to Cranberry Ledge and pow! Found a gem right away. We switched servers a few more times, but no luck.

I have finally achieved my goal of receiving my first GEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was adventuring with all the talents available and we kept getting just ingredients. Then I had no more cookies and had to go bake so I thought for sure I would lose the group. But I came back and they were still trying. Then I got booted out of the adventure. Talk about frustrating. So after everybody leading they asked me to lead. I thought just great. We won't get a gem that way, because everybody said it had to be a tinker or a light talent to get a gem. Well I here to tell you that IS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!! I am A GARDEN TALENT. I lead the adventure and WE GOT A GEM!!!!!!!!!!!!! So all of you garden fairies have courage and don't give up you can succeed too. Just take the bull by the horns or the adventure by the trees and lead and you might find a gem waiting for you. Ruby Roseblossom |
