Camera PDFs or Screenshots?

Like many of you, I've been trying to capture as many memories of my fairies as I can, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to to so. What are your opinions on PDF files versus taking screenshots? Do you find one to be faster than the other? More versatile? Easier to use later on for graphics/etc.? Better for outfits or houses rather than meadow shots?

I'd love your thoughts on this

PDF's are always better for quality graphics but screenshots are usually
much quicker to take and save. But I think PDF's are worth it, since they
are higher quality! Though the only things you can have PDF's of are your house,
garden, and fairy. Screenshots work well for pictures of yourself in a meadow, playing a
game, baking, tinkering, and other fun things! Hope that helped!

In my opinion, PDF files are definitely better for saving outfits. They are perfect for making graphics, as they have amazing quality. For taking pictures of large homes, PDF files seem best. But with small homes, the edges get cut off. I would suggest taking several screen shots and placing them together to get a picture of the entire home. For pictures of meadows, you'll have to takes screen shots, but I find that takes equally as long.

As far as wanting pictures of your outfits, I would definitely go with PDFs. They capture so much more detail of the outfits and you can zoom way in - I love to see how incredible the outfits look when you do that! However, like Ruby said, for most everything else all you can do is screenshots. I have a few screenshots of my home and only a few PDFs since I don't always like having one big photo of my home. I like to have screenshots of the individual rooms I create. Hope that helps a little bit!

PDF's are nice, but keep in mind that if you are looking to upload them to a online photo hosting site, you may have to save them as a different type of file.

I do agree that if you want a full home or garden shot you will have to do it the old fashion way....a piece at a time.

I thought there was a way to get an image of your whole home or garden all at once? I'm pretty sure there were instructions for how to do it every time there was a home decor contest. In fact, I came into this thread hoping someone would share how.

Yes, Ella, there is a way to print/save your home or garden all at once.

If you open your storage like you are going to decorate your home or garden there will be a button that appears at the bottom of your screen where the saved outfits book usually is that you can use to print/save that area. The trouble I have found with doing this rather than just piecing it together is that it tends to cut off the outer part of the home or garden and I tend to use ALL the space. This is why I prefer doing it a piece at a time. I feel I get a cleaner and more complete image.

Usually checking the "Fit to page" box stops the virtual printer from cutting off the edges of the house, so try doing that or have a browse through the advanced options. If nothing else helps, then cutting and pasting bit-by-bit will have to suffice.

Don't forget that there is also now a Print option in the Saved Outfits journal. What I do is compile an outfit in my wardrobe, save it and then go about dyeing the items. Once I'm done with that, I can quickly go to my Saved Outfits, click the Print button and voila - the outfit is saved on my computer in very high quality!

Ah, see, my printer(s) that are set to my computer don't have that option.

I take screenshots of all I want using the "print screen button" on my keyboard and save pieces at a time in either bitmap or PNG.

I have found that if I start with a screencapture of something bitmap and save as a jpeg it distorts too much for me.

So my best way over all is bitmap (preferably) or PNG.

But if its something for on the forums I always use a jpeg to save space / stay within forum rules / limits.

Bear in mind I'm still using windows XP - (Oh the horror! XD) and own no fancy paint / editing programs. I do all my work on Paint, yay! Pixel by pixel..... thats why it always looks a bit choppy. Someday I will have a better computer..... someday.....
