Training Your Pet - July 2017 Contest

Does your game have a pet for your character? Do you have a pet at your house? Do you wish you had a pet? Regardless of your pet status this contest should be fun for all!

Tell what trick you would like to have a pet perform. It can be the standard "sit/stay" to the crazy "scrub the floors"! You should describe how you would go about training your pet to perform that trick. Would you reward your pet with a treat or kind words?

If you share your pet's tricks, as well as your training method in this post then you will receive a reward of your own! This pretty new award will appear on your profile.

Don't spend too much time training, because this contest will only be available until bedtime Jul 31st (or thereabouts)

Fetlock Holmes

My pet would be a clydesdale horse. The trick would be to kneel so I could climb up because he's so tall. I would give Fetlock Holmes an apple, sugar cube, or handful of oats each time he kneels to let me on. Then I would gently pat his neck.

(I don't know if horses can kneel. :Embarrassed:)

I was curious, so I looked it up and watched a video of a young girl teaching her horse how to bow/kneel! So, it CAN be done.

I would have a cat that I would teach to massage my back. I would award her with lots and lots of love. A while back I inadvertently taught my cat to come to me by 'talking with my hands', you know that gesture people usually make to have a dog speak? One day all I needed to do was make the gesture and she immediately came to me without me having to say anything! Animals are wonderful creatures.

A rabbit as a pet would be a great choice for me. I can teach the rabbit on how to jump, do special tricks, and even teach my sister on how to do a rabbit trick. I can also teach the rabbit to accompany me.

A gold fish as a pet will also be a good idea. Aside from its interesting different tones of orange, I can also teach the gold fish to do special tricks such as waving the tail (if possible).

Twilight always loved training her blue ladybug pet JoJo in Pixie Hollow. He would do flips and double flips and loop-de-loops too. JoJo did tricks for strawberries and blueberries and in return he found lost items that he happen to come
across around Pixie Hollow.

One year at Halloween he got a pumpkin costume

I have a golden retriever puppy who I'm training to catch treats thrown out of the air. :p It's a lot like teaching how to play fetch.

My pets have past but they did do things for me. My horses would scratch my back when I scratched them. My cat would show me how to go to sleep when I said I couldn't by putting his paw on my eye and laying his head on the pillow and closing his eyes. Then he would look at me to repeat what he did. He tried to teach me.
But I was thinking today about a bunny that would go to the garden and get me a salad. LOL:Teasing: Yummy.

This award is too adorable to pass up! Everyone has been so creative with their entries, wish I had pets like those described here.

As for my idea, I honestly wish I had a parrot at my workplace who could learn to take out staples and hole-punch papers for me. I would give it the necessary papers and ask "Staple out, please!" and watch as it plucks the staple out with its beak. That would surely provide the much needed distraction and entertainment during the day! To thank my hard worker, I would share my seeds & dried fruit mix with it for every job well done.

We recently got a new addition to the family -- a leopard gecko! He is already an adult and has been "trained" (which means he can be held). But I would love for him to actually crawl on my hand when I want to hold him rather than having to pick him up. It will require a lot of trust between us, but I hope to get there eventually. His main diet consists of crickets so as a treat we will give him a wax worm. (They are super fatty and should only been given to geckos as a "treat" -- who knew, huh?) Oh and his name is Nugget!

So many great ideas for RL pets and in game pets. I don't have an in game pet, but I think I might be the RL pet. You see I am the one that opens the door when the dog barks or the cats scratch. I'm the one that fills the food bowls when they they whine and the one to drive them every time they need to go to the doctor or want to visit a friend. I am pretty sure they trained me, because they certainly aren't doing any of these things for me!!! :101::101::101:
